Songs Of The Summer 2012: Part One

With summer in full swing, we asked our Demo contributors and a variety of U of T students what song they hope will represent their four months of sun.  Over the next weeks, we will share what they said.

Song: While the River Waits

Artist: Most People

Album: Pre-Release

The feeling of freedom and discovery that I hope my summer becomes is encapsulated in this dreamy and percussive surf-pop song by the Toronto band Most People.  My discovery of their music was a happy accident back in the middle of winter (they were a part of the Wavelength festival that I religiously attended in its entirety), but I knew right away that this was exactly the kind of music that I would want to be listening to during my four months of warm weather.   Watching them play live, their passion for playing music is readily apparent; which is exactly what I want to capture over the next few months: I want to push myself to succeed in my research position, I want to explore and immerse myself in the local music scene, and I want to listen to songs that wash over you with fun bass lines and layers of harmonies.  But, above all, I want to embrace the world with the same passion that I see in Most People.
